Making Extra Money Online in 2012 vs. Full-time Online Income

So there are two main categories of people who want to make money online in 2012. Those who want to have a little extra money for gadgets or extra nights on the town, and those who want to make enough to quit their jobs and "work" online full-time. Which category are you in? And more importantly, which techniques work best for each group?

If you're in this for the long haul, you might want to consider signing up at a "make money online" forum or membership site. They're usually founded by someone who makes a full time income online, and you'll be surrounded by other members who do the same. For example, you can sign up at Affilorama for free. As a member, you have access to training videos, guides, software, and a huge community of over 150,000 members to get guidance and support from. For a fee, other websites even offer personal coaching from successful internet business owners.

But maybe that's not how you view your journey to making money online in 2012. Watching training videos, doing research, consulting with other people, and following detailed lessons step by step might be effective, but if you're not looking for a full-time income, it might not be worth the time investment. That's where software can help you to make money online in 2012. Instead of trying to do everything yourself and worrying that you'll make a mistake, let a computer program do it for you.

Do you think many "internet millionaires" work on their online businesses full time? Of course not. They perfect a method that works and then use some of the profit to hire developers to create a program that will do it for them. The more generous ones then make those programs available to people like you. Using software  for your online business, you'll have less control over the process of course. But maybe that's just want you want!

(PS. Don't forget, although "make money online" software is great for just putting a little extra money in your pocket, the fact that almost everything is automated means that you can keep duplicating the process...and easily scale up to a full-time income in the process!)

Automation: The Key to Making Money Online in 2012?

Even when the early affiliates and internet marketers were starting their journeys to make money online, there were already efforts to streamline and automate the process. It initially required a lot of work: you had to design and set up a website, or hire someone else to do it if you didn't know how. Then you had to spend hours writing content for your website, and even more time would be spent on trying to get people to actually view your website and click your ads or affiliate links.

There were days of research, since you had to decide which niche was the most profitable, and then you had to find an affiliate product within that niche that would actually make you money. Outsourcing everything was very expensive, so you would likely have to do most of it yourself. If you took too long, chances are some of the "super affiliates" would now be competing with you. And even worse,  if you did something wrong at any point in the process...get ready to start all over again!

Luckily, those days are gone when it comes to making money online in 2012. There's a new program out that uses a special algorithm to analyze internet trends to determine what the next "big thing" will be. Then it uses that website to create a complete website for you, filled with content and YOUR affiliate links to the most profitable products. You don't have to design a website, research a niche, write content, select a product...it's literally all done for you. The programmers behind this are great, and I wish I had something like this 5 years ago.

People are making nearly $500/day with only a few minutes of work. Get in on it here while you can...

Making Money with Surveys in 2012

One of the easiest ways to start making money online in 2012 is through surveys. Retailers, websites, and other companies are always looking for the best ways to reach consumers in order to produce products and services that will sell. In order to do this, they need to get consumer opinions, and they are more than willing to pay for the time those consumers spend filling out surveys.

There are a few different types of market research included under the broad category of "surveys":
  • The term survey generally refers to a short series of questions that you give responses to. You might be also asked to view an image, movie trailer, or commercial and give feedback.
  • Interactive surveys ask questions as well, but have a more interactive element. You may be asked to go on a pretend shopping trip, placing items from a virtual shelf into your cart, or to move a slider to match your feeling in real time as you watch a commerical.
  • Some surveys might lead to product trials, where you are sent one or more products to try out at home and give opinions about.
  • There are journals and online communities, which are longer term opportunities with higher pay. You track your opinions or experiences with a product over a period of time. With online communities, you may be able to interact with other people on a forum.
  • Focus groups occur more often in person, and involve a group of consumers testing out a product or giving general feedback at a company location.
Compensation varies between the different types of surveys depending on how long they are, but surveys can be a nice way to make some extra money for 2012. Free survey sites can earn you some extra pocket money, while qualifying for the more "serious" online survey taking communities might require a membership fee.

One of my favorite free survey websites for 2012 is Opinion Outpost. I use it to take surveys every so often when I need some extra money in my Paypal account or Amazon gift cards to treat myself to something I want :P I know a few dedicated survey takers who make at least a few hundred dollars every month (one of them makes over $1000!), but I have more fun doing other things to make money online. Making Money Online with Google in 2012

Let's face it: The vast majority of ways to make money online in 2012 depend on Google. If you have your own website, you're working hard to make sure it's at the top of the Google rankings. If you run a blog, you might have Google Ads that pay off every time someone clicks them. If you're an affiliate, you might be running your own Google ads to get traffic to your affiliate links. If you use article marketing, you want your articles to come up in Google searches. The list goes on, but you get the point.

If you're trying to make money online in 2012, you're most likely going to need to become familiar with Google at some point. You'll want to keep up with their policy changes to make sure that your websites stay high in the rankings or that your account doesn't get banned for breaking any rules. This is easy enough if you're running only one website or marketing campaign, but as your business grows to include multiple income streams, this burden might grow as well.

So what's the best way to avoid this extra hassle and ensure you keep making money online with Google in 2012? Simple: make sure your business isn't vulnerable to these changes in the first place. Before the latest major Google "rule change", many dishonest people were abusing the system to get their websites ranked higher. They used programs to spam thousands of links to their website, or plagarized higher ranked websites to try and get more traffic. Google caught on, and after the update many of these abusers found their sites not only a lot lower in the rankings...but sometimes gone from Google searches completely!

The best way to prevent something like this is to be honest and ethical with your online business. Don't spam, don't scam, and don't try to cheat the system. Of course, this doesn't mean you shouldn't take advantage of Google policies...they have a formula that tells what they want to see from a website. If you know how to interpret it, you'll definitely be making money online with Google this year.

How to Choose the Right Niche for 2012

If you don't know what a niche is yet, you definitely should if you want to make money online in 2012. A niche is a particular topic or interest that your online business is geared towards. For example, if you niche was "dog training", then you might be an affiliate who makes a commssion promoting guides and tools to people looking to train their dogs.

Niches can be general or specific, large or small. Generally, the more specific the niche (ie. "training German Shepard puppies"), the smaller the market is. However, smaller niches also tend to have less competition. The niche you pick will have a huge impact on whether or not your online business is successful, so how do you know which niche to choose?

Maybe you want to promote Justin Bieber CD's and memorabilia. It wouldn't be a bad choice --- he's very popular right now. But the goal of any online business is to create a stable income that will last (and hopefully, grow) in the years to come. Who knows if Justin Bieber will still be popular next year?

This is why many people will recommend you start off in "evergreen" niches. These are the topics that everyone is always looking for, and there's no reason to believe that their popularity will go away anytime soon. Things like weight loss, relationship advice, self-help, and making money. These can be good choices if you have a little background knowledge, because there are million of potential customers searching for these topics every day.

But what if you're lacking that background knowledge? If you're just starting to make money online, you probably won't be the best source for advice on it. The best thing you can do when choosing a niche is to start off with something you know--- people will trust you if you sound like you know what you're talking about. It also means you'll know which products are good to promote to other people with your interests.

Whatever niche you choose, don't be afraid to branch out. Build multiple businesses in different niches, and you'll have many streams of income to keep you smiling your way to the bank for a long time.

How Long Does it Take to Start Making Money in 2012?

The number one reason people fail to make money online is because they give up too soon. Waiting for that first commission or check payment to come through can be tedious at first, especially if you've invested time and/or money into making your online business work. Understandably, you want to see your investment pay off. When it doesn't happen right away, you might feel like giving up.

Giving up on making money online in 2012 would be a huge mistake, though. You will often hear about the "80/20 rule": 80% of your profits will come from 20% of your efforts. This means that while a lot of your efforts will have small payouts, there will be a few that will really pay off. The only way to tell one from the other is to wait it out.

So how long will you have to wait? Well, that depends. Undeniably, a lot of making money online in 2012 will be up to luck; whether the right person happens to click your affiliate links or visit your website at the right time. But most of the other factors, you can change directly.

Picking the right methods to use, putting in the necessary amount of work, following the advice of people who have already had success --- all of these are simple things you can do to make sure you see success in 2012. And if you're not seeing success as fast as you'd like?

Don't give up--- give it your all! Instead of waiting to see success from your first hour of work, put in another hour. Those smaller payouts will build up quickly...and who knows, you may even hit a big one on the way!
